Virtual card design for apps and wallets.

A virtual card is experienced on a screen, in an app and in a digital wallet, not held in the hand. It has its own legibility and layout considerations, and it is not simply a resized physical card.

You receive several creative directions and choose one. That single direction becomes your completed design, adapted across every format included in your package.

Virtual cards, concept design

What to consider

Mobile-app presentation
Designed to read clearly at the sizes an app actually renders, not just at full scale.
Digital-wallet presentation
Considered against how wallets crop, tint and frame card art.
Light and dark backgrounds
Legible whether the surrounding interface is light or dark.
Screen legibility
Contrast and type sized for small screens and variable brightness.
App and wallet are two designs
Your app renders the card the way you decide; a digital wallet crops, tints and frames it the way the platform decides. We design for both, not one and a resize.
Front and detail views
A clean front plus the detail states an app commonly shows.

Questions

Common questions.

What is a creative concept?

A distinct visual direction, shown as one front-card visual, one standard mockup, a short name and a one- or two-sentence explanation. It is a direction, not a finished production file, only the direction you select is developed into the complete design.

How are multi-format cards created?

Initial concepts are presented in one primary card format. Once you select a direction, the final design is completed and adapted across every card format included in the package.

What do I actually receive?

You receive design files: print-ready vector artwork as PDF, Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and EPS, with text outlined for production where appropriate. These are the finished designs, not manufactured cards. If you would like the cards produced, we can arrange manufacturing separately, quoted on top of the design package.

Are fonts included?

Fonts must be supplied by the client with the appropriate usage rights. We can recommend suitable fonts, but font licences must be purchased separately by the client.

Can you guarantee Visa or Mastercard approval?

No. We produce scheme-aware, production-conscious design reviewed against known card-scheme brand considerations. Final approval remains subject to the issuer, relevant card scheme, programme partners and selected manufacturer.
